At First United Methodist Church of Valley Center, we believe childhood is a sacred time to explore faith, build friendships, and experience the love of Jesus. Through age-appropriate lessons, music, crafts, and activities, our Children’s Ministry helps kids grow in knowledge and character—all while having fun!
We welcome all children from birth through 5th grade and offer a safe, nurturing environment where they can worship, learn, and thrive.
Biblical Learning for Every Age
Discover, Explore, Belong
Our Sunday School classes meet from 10:00–10:55 a.m. and are grouped by age to provide age-appropriate teaching and activities:
- Preschool & Kindergarten
- 1st & 2nd Grade
- 3rd through 5th Grade
Children engage in Bible stories, crafts, songs, and discussion that help connect their growing hearts and minds to God’s story.
Hands-On Worship for Kids
Faith on Their Level
Children’s Church is offered during both worship services for Kindergarten through 3rd grade. After the children’s sermon in the sanctuary, kids head back to the children’s area for interactive lessons, music, and crafts.
Children’s Church Schedule:
- 9:00 a.m. Service – 1st & 3rd Sundays
- 11:00 a.m. Service – 2nd & 4th Sundays
- No Children’s Church on 5th Sundays
Children are picked up in Room 12B after worship unless they are staying for Sunday School, in which case we’ll guide them to their class.
WOW ZONE! for Ages 3–5th Grade
Midweek Fun & Faith
WOW ZONE! is our weekly children’s program on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m., running August through May. Kids enjoy high-energy activities, Bible-based lessons, music, and crafts that make learning about God exciting and accessible.
- Please use Entrance C when attending.
- WOW ZONE! is on summer break and resumes in August 2025.
A Safe Place to Learn and Grow
Your child’s safety is our top priority. All staff and volunteers working with children are Safe Gatherings certified, meaning they’ve completed background checks and mandatory safety training.
Our building is also equipped with a 24/7 integrated security system to monitor activity throughout the property. You can feel confident knowing your child is cared for in a secure, supportive environment.
Help Lead the Next Generation
Love working with children? We’re always looking for caring, committed volunteers to help with Sunday School, Children’s Church, WOW ZONE!, and special events like VBS. All volunteers must complete Safe Gatherings training before serving.
