The First United Methodist Church of Valley Center was officially organized in 1879, and the first church building stood at the corner of Main and Meridian, on the current site of Emprise Bank. In 1913, work was begun on a new building at 229 Ash. After many years at the Ash location, much growth, and several additions, land was purchased at the corner of Fifth and Meridian. Groundbreaking ceremonies were held April 4, 1958, for a new building at the current location. Since then, additional land has been purchased and three major additions have been built. We celebrated our 130-year anniversary in 2009. We continue to grow in size, but more importantly, in our faith, witness, and ministry.
